I Wish You Well

Peter Hapka, Dean Reed
(Abschiedslied an Deans zweite Frau Wiebke, November 1977)

On that night that we did meet
Oh I remember well,
what your eyes they said to me,
no words could better tell,
My fingertips they burned with fire,
Your lips they drove me on,
and I whispered in your ear,
as I left at dawn.

Years they came an then they went,
we were man and wife,
made a home, a child was born,
we hoped it's be for life,
but dreams sometimes are not fulfilled,
it's hard to realize,
and I left you standing there,
with teardrops in your eyes.

I sit here guitar in hand,
I think about it all,
the dreams we felt the hopes we had,
our castle had to fall,
the worlds we knew they could never meet,
the bridge it was too long,
loving thoughts I send to you,
as I sing this song.

Refr. :
I wish you well,
may your life be without pain,
and on the path that you shall walk,
I hope your laughter shall remain.
I wish you well,
may your wishes all come true,
and may your strength give hope to all,
and may it be returned to you.
